Co-founders Greg Duffy and Aamir Virani initially developed Dropcam thanks to a neighborhood menace. Greg's father desperately wanted to figure out which of the local dogs was "fertilizing" his yard. He began hooking up IP cameras, but couldn't get the system to work just right. He also found that storing video on his hard drive was not an easy, scalable or secure solution.
Founded in 2009 by Greg Duffy and Aamir Virani, Dropcam is revolutionizing the way people stay connected to the places they care about. With the Dropcam and Dropcam Pro Wi-Fi video monitoring cameras and optional Cloud Recording (CVR) service, you can remotely drop in on your house, baby, pets, business or anything else from a computer, tablet or smartphone.
I was able to set up my Dropcam with in a matter of 5 minutes. Yes you read that right. I installed my Dropcam one day when my family was gone and told no one about it. Later I started asking about different things that were caught with my Dropcam. My family was wondering how I was knowing about stuff that was goin on in the house when I wasn't home or when I was sleeping. Well after a few days I got busted when my son found the Dropcam box. I so love having my Dropcam because I can keep an eye on my house when I am not home. When I am home I place the Dropcam to show the front door and my driveway. By doing this I know when I get packages delivered or who is at my door. I plan on getting another Dropcam because I love the one I have.
