October’s DVD and Book Product Roundup 2018

I get products sent to me daily to try out. I unfortunately don’t have time to do a post for each item that I get to review. So I want to make sure these items get seen and learned about. The only other solution I could see to do is to do a October’s DVD and Book Product Roundup 2018 on the products I like and want my readers to know about. I hope you enjoy these as much as I and my other reviewers did.

Soon they are on a musical journey of self-discovery and empathy neither one could have imagined.

Today, war is a high-tech affair. The modern soldier relies on advanced weapons and communications technology as his essential support. But in World War II, soldiers relied on an entirely different kind of support—a kind of support soldiers have used since ancient times. Animals.

Dogs, horses, and pigeons became World War II soldiers’ best friends in battle, serving to carry weapons, wounded men, and messages through artillery fire. In War Animals, bestsellling author Robin Hutton brings the animal heroes of World War II to vivid life with the heroic true tales of:

  • Famed pigeon G.I. Joe, who saved an Italian village and British troops by flying 20 miles in 20 minutes to carry a message to Allied forces;
  • Chips, a German Shepherd trained as a sentry who attacked an Italian machine gun team, sustaining powder burns and saving his handler’s life;
  • Bing, a paradog who jumped out of a plane on D-Day, landed in a tree, and once on the ground helped his handlers locate the enemy.A heartwarming and sometimes even hilarious history of bonafide heroes of feather and fur,War Animals is a World War II story you’ve never read before.

Would you ever take a job without a job description, let alone one that requires a lifetime contract? Parents do this every day, and yet there is no instruction manual that offers achievable methods for containing and organizing the seemingly endless job of parenting. This revolutionary roadmap includes:

A unique framework with eight quadrants that separates parenting responsibilities into actionable, manageable tasks―for the whole bumpy ride from cradle to college.
Simple strategies to stay truly present and focused, whether you’re playing with your kids, enjoying a meal with your significant other, or getting ahead on that big proposal for work.
Clever tips to make the most of in-between time―Just 5-15 minutes of your undivided attention has a huge impact on kids.
Permission to take personal time without feeling guilty, and the science and case studies that show how important self-care is and how to make time for it.

The Efilu archeologist, Vit Na, is a misfit among her crew. En route to Fitu, their planet of origin, the Efilu research vessel, ReQam’s important jobs have been assigned to specialists, scientists and soldiers. Were it not for her intimate relationship with High Commander Tur, her Synesprit, she would not have been on this expedition at all. The ship’s complement arrives to a world they never expected, a world no longer their own.

When the invincible ReQam is crippled by the new inhabitants, Tur’s crew is stranded thousands of light years from home. As far as anyone knew, all Fitu’s abandon, indigenous life forms perished 65 million years ago along with The Keepers, followers of the ancient mystic, Dragon. Due to her petite size, for she is nearly as small as the biped mammals they contend with, Vit Na is conscripted as in infiltrator, and deployed among the hostile mammals who have evolved to resemble the Efilu.

It soon becomes clear that the vital resource for which Tur’s seeks was intentionally tainted to draw the Efilu back of this strange world. Vit Na finds herself uniquely prepared to serve as desperately needed advocate to the crafty mammals who filled that vacant, Efilu niche and are now in jeopardy. Who would have guessed that a daughter of noble house Kemit would be destined to defend vermin, long believed extinct after the Efilu Exodus from a world now called Earth?

10 thoughts on “October’s DVD and Book Product Roundup 2018

  1. These look like a bunch of good choices. I saw the original Freaky Friday as a teen in the 70’s and really liked it. I’m sure this musical is great, too.

  2. (October’s DVD and Book Product Roundup 2018) So many great DVD and other things to read about. My grandson loves the Ncircle show Octonauts a lot.

  3. Very good roundup! I particularly like “The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About Halloween” for my kids. My 5 year old daughter just started reading, and we have been reading a lot of Dr. Suess books. She would really appreciate this DVD. We haven’t seen any Dr. Suess videos.
