Green Giant’s “Raise A Giant” Anti-Bullying Campaign & $25 Visa GC Giveaway 11/22 Daily US #MyBlogSpark

Green Giant’s “Raise A Giant” Anti-Bullying Campaign

Green Giant knows it takes a lot more to raise a healthy child then just getting them to eat their vegetables. Kids these days live in a world that is bigger and scarier than the world we grew up in, and they need help and encouragement to navigate that world with confidence and pride.

Unfortunately one of the hardest things kids have to deal with is bullying. When a child is bullied by a peer it can turn his or her life into a daily gauntlet of fear and anxiety.

That’s why Green Giant® is partnering with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center and We Day Minnesota to help parents Raise A Giant and put a stop to bullying in their community.

What Does it Mean To Be A Giant? Being a giant isn’t about being the biggest or the best. Being a giant means standing up for others. It means lending a hand to those who are in trouble and speaking up for those who sometimes find it hard to speak up for themselves.

Studies show that an effective way to stop bullying is for kids to simply speak up and say, “That’s not okay” when they see bullying happening. But asking kids to have the courage to stand up to bullying is a tall order and that’s why they need our help.

GG_Bully_Graphic_2Right now this campaign is hitting close to home for me. My son is dealing with getting bullied at school and as a parent I am not happy with the way the school is handling the matter. I as a parent can only do so much. I give my trust every day in the school and teachers to help prevent bullying form happening but I am finding out that my sons school still needs to improve in this area. This campaign is really helping us as a family to work through this, Thanks

Raise a Giant

How Do You Raise A Giant?
We’re asking parents to write a letter to their kids telling them how special they are and encouraging them to be part of the bullying prevention solution by being a giant. To get started parents can visit our community at the Green Giant “Raise a Giant” Website and read the letters others have written.

  5. I was bullied as I child myself and still carry the scars. It has affected every aspect of my life as an adult. I think it’s great that people are starting to realize how damaging it can be and no longer see it as a rite of childhood passage. Thanks.

  6. What a wonderful message. My daughters school is working very hard with anti-bullying projects such as the RAchel Project created by a parent of one of the students of the Columbine shooting.

  7. i teach special ed, so many of my kids are bullied, i want to share some of the ideas on this site with my class, thank you!

  11. great campaign. writing a letter to your child may get through to them more than talking to them, since most teenagers only hear, “blah, blah, blah”. it is something concrete that i think means more.

  12. I learned Green Giant is partnering with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center and We Day Minnesota.

  13. i love green giant veggies and im against bullying not right i used to have a stuffed green giant doll i wish i still had him.

  14. I learned that To help parents raise kids who are strong inside and out, they’ve partnered with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center and We Day Minnesota to help kids learn how to prevent, stop and cope with bullying.

  15. I learned that Green Giant is partnering with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center to develop an in-school student-to-student curriculum helping students understand how they can prevent, stop and deal with bullying.

  16. I really like this campaign….it’s so needed right now. I also like to see that a national company is stepping up to the plate and bringing awareness to the issue….kudos.

  17. I liked the part where i could write a letter which I did. I wish they had done this 4o years ago. Bullying has been around forever. When I was a kid the teacher would tell you to stop tattling or tell you that you were a tattle tail. So not only were you bullied but then the teacher called you names!!! Remember that? Sorry to hear that your school isn’t on top of things when it comes to bullying but just a little hint. Don’t waste your breath on the school teachers or principle obviously they aren’t listening to you. Instead call the superintendents office. If that don’t work attend a board meeting!

  18. I like the best under Letters: You’re the best. I wis everyone, children and adults could hear that message often enough to believe it totally of themselves and of others.

  19. This is a beautiful blog/website – and so inspired and inspiring. What a difference it would have made when I was growing – for myself and many many others. Without the awareness, support, reassurance and sense of sharing – the sense of aloneness and despair can overwhelm and worse.

Watching and reading, I am literally moved to tears and inspired to find ways to join the solution and carry on the fight against the cruelty and destructiveness of bullying.

  20. My son’s school also needs to improve in that area! My son was being bullied at school right in front of his teacher and I decided just to home school him. We are all much happier now! I like the letter section.

  21. i absolutely love the idea about writing a letter to the kids.. ‘We’re asking you to write a letter to the kids in your life telling them why they have the courage to stand up to bullying and asking them to do their best to be a giant in their life.’ it gives them emotional support and encouragement and self esteem to realize they’re great, no matter what.

  22. I love this idea the gree giant great idea. The letter section is touching hopefullt this canpaign helps many chilren andfamilies

  23. I love the little letters of encouragement. I was bullied as a kid, and the strange part is when I finially stood up to my bully everyone ganged up on me, yelling at me not to be mean to her. She usually bullied me when others were not around, I stood up in front of everyone.

  24. I learned that Green Giant is one of the sponsors for We Day Minnesota – a massive event to celebrate students who are volunteering locally and globally!

  25. To help parents raise kids who are strong inside and out, we’ve partnered with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center and We Day Minnesota to help kids learn how to prevent, stop and cope with bullying.
